Taking the Plunge - Mer-May TG
Francis could hardly stop grinning as he drove. Music pumping loud from his radio as he sped down wide, empty, country roads, he carefully followed the directions on his phone. After half a year of hinting about some cool secret beach, his girlfriend, Emily, had finally told him where it was. According to her, she and her family were the only ones who ever went there, or even knew it existed. It was a big family secret, and he knew that telling him how to get there meant a lot to her and her family - and with that in mind, he didn't really care if it turned out to be a gravelly stinkhole. As he slowed and wound down increasingly narrow and rough unmarked roads, double-checking his directions for fear of getting hopelessly lost, he arrived with relief at a clearing that seemed to function as a carpark, currently empty. Only a minute's walk away, as Emily’s texts instructed, he emerged from the dunes - and there it was. It was like a scene from a movie; soft sand and sparkling water.
